How diploma recognition and equivalency (denklik) works in Türkiye, the documents required, and the official channels for applying.

It confirms that your high school diploma is recognized as equivalent to a Turkish diploma. This document is essential for enrolling at universities in Türkiye.

Prepare the original high school diploma or its equivalent, and the original transcript. In Libya this set is known as the استمارة الشهادة, serving as both the graduation certificate and transcript. You may also need the first- and second-year secondary school certificates, your passport (Pasaport), your Turkish residence permit (İkamet), two personal photos with a white background that some directorates may request, and the entry/exit stamp pages from Türkiye (Giriş-Çıkış Kayıtları). In some cities, an official paper from the security directorate (Emniyet Müdürlüğü) showing all entry and exit dates may be requested instead of just the stamp images.
The official application form is filled out by hand in blue ink, then scanned and uploaded with the rest of the documents during the online application.
The high school diploma is translated into Turkish by a sworn translator (Yeminli Tercüman), and then the authentication proceeds in order through the notary (Noter), then the foreign ministry in the certificate's issuing country, then the Turkish consulate in that country. In some cities, the first- and second-year secondary school results may need to go through the same stages. After that, make sure the scanned files are clear and organized before uploading.
Open the e‑Denklik portal, select Yeni Başvuru (New Application), enter your personal information carefully, and upload the required documents, preferably as PDF files. Select your city and the appropriate equivalency center (İl Millî Eğitim Müdürlüğü). After submitting, you should receive an email confirming that the application has been registered.
Track the application status from the Sorgulama section (equivalency inquiry) on the portal using your data, including your name and residence number as required by the system. It's advisable to check the status roughly every two days. Once approved, you'll be asked to set an appointment (Randevu) to submit the originals. If rejected, the reason appears, such as missing authentications or an unclear document, and you can then complete what's missing following the center's instructions.
After attending the appointment and submitting the original documents, you may be asked to return several days later to collect the certificate from the office, or an electronically stamped PDF may become available through the portal. Ask the employee for your application number (Başvuru Numarası) so you can track the file easily.
