The university-admission process differs fundamentally between a Türkiye Scholarships (YTB) student and a self-funded student. Final registration (Kesin Kayıt) follows issuance of the acceptance letter and generally requires submitting original documents to the university.
During the scholarship application, the student ranks preferred universities and programs, and the list may contain up to 12 choices.
After passing the interview and receiving the scholarship, the YTB committee reviews the student’s file and preferences.
YTB places the student directly at one of the selected universities, or at a university it considers suitable for the student’s qualifications, instead of the student submitting a separate admission application.
The student receives a YTB letter stating the university and program of admission. University admission is therefore part of the scholarship package.
Summary for YTB students: the student does not apply independently for separate university admission. They receive the scholarship, and the provider grants university admission as part of the package.
This is the most common route: the student registers for the examination and uses the result to apply for admission selection at universities that accept it.
Some major universities, such as ODTÜ, Boğaziçi, and İTÜ, may prefer the SAT, particularly for some engineering and management programs. Confirm accepted examinations directly with the university.
A limited number of public universities accept applications based solely on the high school diploma, and competition is intense, potentially requiring very high grades, particularly for competitive programs.

Complete the university’s online form and enter your information accurately.
Upload the TR‑YÖS, YÖS, or SAT result, or the high school diploma, according to what the university accepts in the current application cycle.
Monitor the results channel specified by the university, then meet the enrollment-confirmation deadline if accepted.
The basic requirement is usually the high school diploma and transcript, and an entrance examination may sometimes be required, particularly for medicine and dentistry.
The student contacts the International Office directly through the website or email and sends copies of the passport, diploma, and transcript translated into Turkish or English as required.

Pay the first tuition installment or the full annual fees according to the university’s system, and keep the payment receipt (Dekont).
Visit Öğrenci İşleri within the specified period and submit the equivalency certificate when requested, the fee receipt, acceptance letter, original diploma and transcript, passport and visa, personal photographs, and any other documents requested by the university.
